01 / What is the posemesh?

The posemesh is a decentralized machine perception network and collaborative spatial computing protocol, designed to allow digital devices to securely and privately exchange spatial data and computing power to form a shared understanding of the physical world.

02 / Posemesh philosophy

The foundational philosophy behind the posemesh is to allow devices to come together and form ad hoc distributed spatial computers, where data and compute resources can be moved within the cluster to optimally solve for each participant’s economic interests.

03 / Why DePIN?

Devices like headsets, robots and handhelds need to conserve energy and space, and benefit from being able to incorporate both external sensor data and auxiliary compute power. To preserve privacy and adhere to decentralization tenets, this data and compute should be confined to the voluntary and trustless clusters the devices form together.

04 / Consumers

Other actors in the posemesh are more concerned with the accurate mapping of the physical world, and the use of that digital twin to underpin their virtual real estate. These actors want to offer the virtual real estate to visiting applications for a fee, but would also benefit from incorporating volunteered or acquired sensor data from visiting devices.

Additionally, stewards of large and complex domains may require occasional help computing complex tasks like semantic downsampling of the environment or other computer vision tasks.

Regardless of the actor or device’s preferences, the posemesh needs to provide the means for trustless clusters to form and disband, for reputations to be earned and maintained, for data and compute resources to exchanged, and for the economic settlement of these interactions.

05 / Contributors

In the posemesh, devices can contribute or request sensor data, processing power and storage, as well as networking and monitoring services.

The consumption of the services and resources incur a fee, while the provision of services and resources grant rewards. These reputations and rewards are cryptographically secured using a blockchain, and provide the economic foundation for the DePIN network to balance its provisioning and operation.

06 / The goal

The posemesh is a complex protocol incorporating several distinct layers and node types, making it possible for different machine profiles to add and receive value from the network. The goal of the protocol is not to create one grand digital twin of the world, but rather to allow for the seamless migration and collaboration between smaller domains and clusters. Instead of sharing your camera feed with us, you can privately exchange spatial data with the domain that you’re visiting, or with other peers in your area.

This approach has both technical and ethical advantages over the centralized efforts of the tech giants, and provides a path for civilization to incorporate the benefits of spatial computing without contributing to surveillance capitalism.

07 / Our belief

New applications for the future of commerce, entertainment and logistics are already being built on the posemesh, building momentum with the inevitable transition to spatial computing.But how can such a vital decentralized protocol be maintained?

How can we trust its many participants?

How can we accommodate the next 100 billion devices?

How can we ensure proper performance and uptime in a decentralized protocol?

To address these concerns, we are building a blockchain-enabled Rewards and Reputation layer for the posemesh, to allow it to run as a public utility in service of civilization, and not some corporate entity.

08 / Infrastructure

Token utility overview

The deflationary AUKI utility token is the backbone of the decentralized infrastructure powering the posemesh, facilitating the collaboration between peers. Developers and domain owners burn the token to be able to access the services, while infrastructure operators receive token rewards from the deflationary mint, and stake a reputation in the token to become eligible for work and rewards.

The token can be used to access the posemesh service through burning, or to become a node operator through staking to earn rewards for participating. All data moving over the posemesh between peers is paid for by burning the utility token, meaning that all usage of the protocol accelerates deflation.
