Auki ecosystem grant: Mindful Ocean Metaverse

Mindful Ocean was one of the earliest builders on the Auki Network—they first started exploring our ConjureKit SDK back in December of 2021. 3 years, 2 SDK name changes (it’s now the Auki SDK), and 1 $AUKI token launch later, we’re thrilled to give them a grant to continue their mission!

It’s a mission to save our oceans by cultivating empathy towards marine life through art. With 90% of marine species at risk of extinction, the world is in dire need of more people who care. Only 0.5% of the world population interacts with marine life in person, and naturally those people tend to be more passionate than the rest about protecting our oceans. Mindful Ocean believes that allowing everyone else to interact with digital marine life is the next best thing, not to mention logistically much easier!

They launched the first version of their Auki-powered app last March, featuring the ability to turn any physical space into an immersive underwater experience complete with butterfly fish that users designed themselves and could interact with in AR via hand gestures. It was a fun experience that multiple people could share in real time thanks to their use of our relay server network.

Backyard turned ocean metaverse

Now they want to level up their AR experience by turning Auki domains into context-aware underwater metaverses that blend more seamlessly into the physical space. Users will be able to carry out missions, find hidden treasures in the sea, and more, all the while having fish that don’t swim through their furniture.

We are so excited to continue our support of Mindful Ocean’s mission with a 750,000 $AUKI token grant. A small portion has been released upfront, and more will be released upon successful completion of domain integration. Of course, part of every grant is burned for network credits to cover their usage of the Auki network, and this part has been burned already.
